Sensor Alignment

Your photo-eye sensors are the law — they have to work or your door won't close. We align them properly.

02What you get

Federal law requires every modern garage door opener to have working photo-eye sensors at the bottom of the tracks. When they're misaligned, your door reverses on close, blinks an error code, or refuses to operate. We re-align, replace damaged sensors, and verify the safety reverse before we leave.

  • 01Photo-eye realignment and bracket adjustment
  • 02Wiring inspection and re-termination
  • 03Sensor replacement (LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie)
  • 04Safety reverse testing on a 2x4 stop block
  • 05Any-brand opener compatibility

03When you need this

Signs to call us.

  • Door reverses immediately on close (one sensor sees an obstruction)
  • Opener LEDs blink an error code referencing photo-eye or safety reverse
  • Sensor LEDs not lit, or one green and one red
  • Sensor knocked physically out of alignment by a bike, broom, or lawnmower

04What we see

Common failure
modes.

01

Sensor bracket bent

Most common cause. We straighten or replace the bracket and re-align in minutes.

02

Wire chewed by rodents or pulled loose

Garage sensor wiring runs at floor level — vulnerable. We re-terminate or rerun the wire.

03

Sun glare hitting the receiver lens

South- and west-facing doors at certain hours of the day. We shade-bracket the receiver.
